Laura & Dave's Wedding
Genuinely incredibly good food and a brilliant price. Restaurant quality, served very professionally out of the venues kitchen, which they had not used before. Very accommodating to all of the changes that we kept making even up to the week before the wedding.
Thomas and Sophie Dale – Vintage Adventure
Wedding Breakfast: August 18, 2012
Tee Pee Marquee: Home garden, Woodnewton
"We knew we wanted something a bit quirky and different with the emphasis on fun. Keith came recommended through friends and with my Dad's house being in Woodnewton we would often ate at the White Swan, where Keith is head chef.
Sophie's nickname is 'Sausage' and she comes from Lincolnshire, Sausage and Mash was the perfect menu choice for us. Keith and Amanda were great to work with. They came up with some innovative ideas in terms of catering for the wedding breakfast. They suggested using the family produced Jollydale Cider, which originated in Woodnewton, in the gravy for our sausage and mash menu and kept to our rustic food theme by producing some wonderful canapés; rare local roast beef and horseradish on oatcake, wild mushroom bruschetta with parmesan and mini caramelised red onion with goat's cheese and beetroot tartlets. This was all washed down with champagne and our own Jollydale Perry and Apple Cider.
The vintage theme was different and a feature in itself. Amanda suggested that dessert could be served as an afternoon style Tea. Sophie loved this idea and as we love a nursery style pud, Keith made individual treacle tarts which were presented on the vintage cake stands served with pots of tea and coffee from lovely vintage ware tea pots. It felt very nostalgic, looked beautiful and everyone loved it!"
Chef's comment, Keith Mickleburgh, Beetroot Catering - Getting to know the couple, in this case Sophie and Tom, is very important for us. After all, we're being trusted with the most important day of their lives. Understanding their tastes and any themes and discussing seasonality of produce is key to the success of the day. We work together to come up with a bespoke menu followed by a full tasting; an opportunity for the couple to sample the presentation, taste the dishes, view the selected crockery and make changes if they wish to. We want the couple and their guests to be delighted... after all; word of mouth is the best form of advertising!

Catering for an event can be a stressful business. Delivering a great and innovative menu that's well cooked and served on time to your guests can be a challenge. So whether it's a wedding, corporate banquet or simply a party at home why not take the stress out of the event and call in the caterers?
Keith Mickleburgh has been a chef for over 20 years. He may be familiar to some as he is the Head Chef at The White Swan, Woodnewton, however due to demand for his services outside of the pub, he has also launched Beetroot Catering and Events based in Oundle. Beetroot's philosophy is simple "Professional catering, locally sourced"
Beetroot takes a very innovative and straightforward approach "We design the menus with our clients and then we provide one price per head which includes all required equipment, waiting staff; crockery and cutlery and pre-event tasting session - there are no hidden extras". And they use locally sourced produce and suppliers where they can. "The client experience is really important to us. It's not just about supplying a meal, serving it and going home. You are an integral part of the day" says Keith "you're representing the hosts and being entrusted by them to deliver the same level of hospitality to their guests'. Judging by the list of impressive testimonials on his website www.beetrootcatering.co.uk clients have certainly been impressed:
...a true talent for managing a banquet! We wanted to choose all local and seasonal ingredients for our wedding reception dinner, and Keith was brilliant at designing a menu along those lines that didn't exceed our budget. The end product was everything we'd hoped for (Tim and Kat)
Beetroot goes beyond just catering. The website is also becoming a web portal for local wedding and event suppliers "Oundle and the surrounding area has a wealth of talented individuals that can supply most things from marquee hire to photography and floristry to cake making and I'm keen to support and promote local businesses"
The Wedding Industry Awards
Unlike other Awards, these suppliers have been voted for by wedding clients. The only eligible voters were recently married couples who could only vote for the wedding suppliers they used for their own weddings. All voters have had direct experience of the services and products offered by these suppliers and the vast majority of the judging process is based on these votes.
